raising a geek part 314

Apr. 15th, 2009 10:27 amFor a brief time last night I was like a god unto my son.
It turns out that the new OS for my phone allows me to play youtube videos. And that youtube has Batman:TAS clips aplenty.
schr0dinger was awed right up until the moment that his mother opened the front door. Gods ain't got nothing on mommies...

Being right isn't always fun
Apr. 6th, 2009 03:57 pmLast night, I was feeding
schr0dinger dinner while we watched Batman (TAS). Once I'd gotten all the food into him that was going to go, he crawled over to cuddle with
ricevermicelli. After a few minutes I looked over and saw him folded at the waist, basically hanging from her knees, with his head on her lap. It was cute, but I had a concern and said "Hey babe, he just ate. You probably don't want his head lower than his belly."
2, 1, boom.
He seemed cheery enough about having puked all over everything within an arms reach...

Dec. 29th, 2008 03:48 pmLast night,
schr0dinger and I played catch for the first time.
At first it was more accurate to say that he didn't drop the ball when I landed it in his arms. But once he got the idea, he started catching the ball fairly reliably. And giggling madly the entire time.

child care plea
Dec. 22nd, 2008 01:41 pmOur babysitter needs to cut her hours down, which leaves us in need, once again, of daycare pickups. For two days a week, most probably Wednesday and Friday.
The daycare is in South Boston. It is not T-accessible unless you really like buses. Pickup needs to be accomplished, ideally by 5:15, absolutely by 5:30.
schr0dinger then needs to be brought home, there to await some parent or other. He could also be brought elsewhere. We highly recommend that he be fed at this juncture.
Also, we need more contingency coverage for sick and snow days. His most usual disease is conjunctivitis, which makes him vaguely contagious but does not impair his usual cheer.
We are happy to negotiate the commercial details of this transaction. If you know of, or are, a person who might be interested, please let us know. We would love to have more than one person to call on, just because people are occasionally busy.
Thank you very much.

sweet kisses
Aug. 18th, 2008 12:20 pmFor about a week now,
schr0dinger has been attempting to kiss people back when they kiss him. He would pucker up, and press his lips against his target. It's been incredibly sweet.
Last night he figured out the part of kissing that makes the kiss noise. It is somehow even sweeter.
ricevermicelli and I might have positively reinforced this behavior...
Of course this was part of his ongoing "develop new skills to delay going to bed" program, but we wrestled him down eventually.

Apr. 26th, 2008 08:59 pmJust a moment ago, I blew a kiss to
schr0dinger as
ricevermicelli was taking him up to bed. He smiled his sunniest smile (which is pretty dang sunny), and blew me a kiss back.
In February I...

- Discovered I am now a "Men's small"
+ Performed on the lyra for the second time. Performed really well for the first time.
+ 102 miles actually.
+ Watched
schr0dinger go from cruising to basically walking. Now that it's March, he's just plain walking. Sometimes.
- Chased wildly after
schr0dinger trying to keep him alive
+ 102.2 to be precise...
+ Felt my rotator cuff improve significantly
+ Snuggled
ricevermicelli lots

Jan. 5th, 2008 09:30 pm2007 had its ups and downs, but for me the good parts trumped.
schr0dinger was born.
ricevermicelli left the job she was bored in for grad school.
I'm sure there's other stuff, but it kind of falls by the way side...
Also, I ended the year about as well as a year can be ended. Much time was spent with
blk and her boys,
mzrowan (no boys attached),
ricevermicelli, &
schr0dinger.
There was silks, and cuddles, peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and a run that turned out far longer than it was meant to be (but it was lovely, I bumped into
clara_girl as I was warming up, then I got to see ice sculptures wearing quilts to keep them cold, and there were revelers lining all of Boylston & Newbury (well, at least until Newbury magically jumps a river a little after Mass Ave)).
On the 30th
schr0dinger stood unsupported for at least a second. On the 31st he experimented with saying both "Hi!" & "Mamamama". I'm looking forward to 2008.

And his name is
schr0dinger.

Mar. 23rd, 2007 10:13 amSchrödinger was born around 3:30 PM on Tuesday the 20th. He weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz., was 19" long, and is the most precious thing ever.
Schrödinger &
ricevermicelli are doing fine, even if we are all exhausted.
No, we haven't got a name for him yet...

Nov. 26th, 2006 11:25 amI felt Schrödinger kick.
ricevermicelli has been feeling it for a while, but she now has confirmation that it can be felt from outside her skin.
For a -.3 year old, Schrödinger has developed fair power and focus. Aim, however, needs work..
