There are runners, strong willed and stern enough to not gratuitously run in the road simply in order to run across the Boston Marathon finish line / gate / thing, particularly when they've only run about a third of the proper distance.

I am not one of those runners.

It felt surprisingly good. The cop had this "Great, another idiot in the road" look. And the two miles I had left were just plain easy...
