Shoveling snow with a broken rib is surprisingly un-painful. As long as I shovel lefty.

It's also fun cutting through the occasional 2" thick sheet of ice in order to shovel. It makes me feel like I accomplished something. Plus it gives me an excuse to use tools that are clearly overkill.

It was actually nice getting out and doing something, so I did one of the neighbors walks as well (The older gentleman who takes care of his aunt, yes. The somewhat mercenary real estate agent trying to flip the place behind me, no. (I actually feel kind of odd about that; for the most part this affects people who aren't either of them, but still, I find myself willing to do one but not the other.))

A woman who hadn't done contact much before was standing on my left hip facing me. Then she arched her back and threw herself backwards with her hands at her hips.

So far as I could tell, she was trying to commit suicide by landing on her head backwards. If she'd died, there would be paperwork, so I caught her by the sacrum with my left hand. This put some stress on my torso. I know I felt the pop, I think I heard it. It hadn't been sure that I was strong enough to catch her, but I had thought that muscles would be the limiting factor.

After that I kind of rolled her over my hand like a huge contact juggling ball. This faced her away from me, and she just stepped down. If not for the rib popping it would have been great...

Eek and ack. And this confirms my fear of dancing with people who seem to not really know what they're doing. I'm glad you thought to try to avoid the paperwork. Heal well and quickly.
